Orange Shirt Day – Sept. 30

September 30th marks Orange Shirt Day; Every Child Matters. On this day, orange shirts are worn to show we stand united and in support of the survivors of Canada’s residential schools.

As part of the Social Studies curriculum, Grade 7 SRS students put on their orange shirts after learning the history of Canada’ residential schools and the impact they had on our First Nations children from 1870-1996. Students recognized that learning history is the first step to becoming better citizens, as when we know better, we do better.
